Puppy Chow

The first time I tasted puppy chow was when I was a teacher. Someone made it for the front office. I could not believe I had not had it before, or even heard of it. It was so addictive I couldn’t stop eating it! It became a staple for me to make every year!

I like baking every day treats and changing them slightly by ingredient or decorating to match the season. For Puppy Chow, I added Reese pieces! It instantly looks like Fall and it just adds to the amazing peanut butter flavor!

Puppy chow is super easy to make and stores well. Its a great gift to give as well.

Start with melting chocolate, peanut butter and butter in a sauce pan until smooth. (You can melt in the microwave too. In 1-quart microwavable bowl, microwave chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter uncovered on High 1 minute; stir. Microwave about 30 seconds longer or until mixture can be stirred smooth) Stir in vanilla. Pour mixture over cereal, stirring until evenly coated. Pour into 2-gallon resealable food-storage plastic bag. Mix in Reese’s pieces or M&Ms depending on the occasion. Store in an airtight container. Enjoy!
