I decided to start making my own seasonings to eat less processed ones. We make tacos and nachos often so I thought I’d start with taco seasoning. My husband has said for years that the packets don’t have as much flavor as they used to. I’m anxious to make adjustments to this one based on our tastes. My friend gave me this recipe but as I did searches, it seems like this is a common one. I did find one that added cayenne pepper so if we need more spice, I think that’s what I’ll add. Since this was my friends and she said it was really good, I wanted to follow the recipe before I made any adjustments for our taste. You would add 2 T of the mix per pound of meat.
1 T chili powder
1/2 t garlic powder
1/4 t onion powder
1/4 t crushed red pepper
1/2 t dried oregano
1/2 t paprika
1 1/2 t ground cumin
1 t seasalt
1 t black pepper
I always put less salt in everything and I add it to taste as I cook. I made 10 batches of the recipe. Looks like sand art as you are making! Enjoy!
