Sugar cookie cut outs

I really do not like the time and effort it takes to make cutouts, but I like having them. They always look good and taste wonderful! I’m very fine motor challenged, so I stick to frosting and using sprinkles.

I was asked to make cookies for an MSU graduation so I decided I would do block S’s. I pulled out my old tried and true recipe from my dear friend Jeanne Postma. I only made one batch and figured it would be easy since I was only using one cut out. This is how they turned out….

Wayyyyy tooo much spread. I was so bummed!! I did some research and learned that my oven might not be calibrated – it is a new oven, and I have felt like it is not quite the right temp. If your oven is not hot enough, the cookies will spread. So I made another batch and used my other oven – and it worked!!

What a difference! I made my own frosting with butter, vanilla, milk and powdered sugar and I used sprinkles from Michaels – they have a great supply of all different colors. I needed only green and white! I’m thrilled with how they turned out! They taste so yummy too! Enjoy!
