Saint Brigid is one of the patron saints of Ireland. St Brigid’s feast day is February 1st. Different ways to celebrate would be weave St. Brigid crosses or make St. Brigid oatcakes. It is also said that you should hang a scarf outside to be blessed by the saint as she passes by your house the night before her saint day. This scarf is known as a ‘Bratog Bride’ in Irish folklore, and it is believed that the scarf can be used throughout the year as a cure for headaches or sore throats.
I think it’s fun to celebrate the Saints. My daughters both have Brigid in their name – one a middle name and one a confirmation name. Brigid was my Irish grandma’s name. I made the oatcakes and they turned out nice! Tastes yummy too!

I also hung a scarf outside to see how it works this year! I picked an Irish scarf.

I’ll close this post with the St. Brigid Blessing.
